Regularly cleaning your radiator not only increases heating efficiency but also extends its lifespan. In this article, we provide a step-by-step guide on how to clean your panel radiator properly.
1. Preparation
Before starting, gather the necessary cleaning supplies:
- Dust cloth or microfiber cloth
- Vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment
- Soft-bristled brush
- Warm water and mild detergent
- Clean towel or cloth
2. Safety Precautions
Always follow these safety steps before cleaning:
- Turn off the radiator and wait for it to cool completely.
- For electric radiators, unplug the unit from the power outlet.
3. Removing Dust and Dirt
To remove dust and dirt from your radiator:
- Use a Dust Cloth: Wipe the outer surface with a soft dust or microfiber cloth to remove surface dust and light grime.
- Vacuum Cleaner: Use the brush attachment to clean dust from the back and underside of the radiator. The vacuum is ideal for reaching tight spaces.
- Use a Brush: Gently clean hard-to-reach gaps and crevices with a soft-bristled brush to loosen any remaining dirt.
4. Deep Cleaning
For more stubborn dirt or stains:
- Prepare Cleaning Solution: Mix warm water with a mild detergent. Avoid harsh chemicals as they may damage the radiator’s surface.
- Dampen the Cloth: Soak a clean cloth or microfiber towel in the solution and wring out excess water.
- Wipe the Radiator: Wipe the radiator’s surface thoroughly, paying extra attention to stained areas. If necessary, gently scrub with the brush.
- Rinse and Dry: Use another cloth dampened with clean water to rinse off any detergent. Then dry the radiator completely with a towel or dry cloth.
5. Final Checks
After cleaning:
- Ensure the radiator is completely dry.
- Reconnect electric radiators to the power supply.
- Turn it on and check that it is functioning correctly.
